一輛11日凌晨自台北開往高雄的統聯客運，45歲的郭姓司機在國道1號台中南屯路段突然昏倒，失控撞向內側護欄，連同司機在內共有6人受傷。郭姓司機向警方表示，當時身體突然僵硬、抽筋，才會失控撞向護欄。
凌晨2時43分，台中市消防局接獲統聯乘客報案，指郭姓司機開到中山高南下181公里處昏倒，造成車輛擦撞內側路欄後停在內側車道。警消抵達現場，車上7名乘客都已下車，其中5人（2男3女）受到輕傷；郭姓司機受困駕駛座內，左腳掌疑有骨折情形，經救出後送醫治療沒有大礙。
郭姓司機向警方表示，自台北開到台中轉運站稍作休息後，便從中港交流道上國道一號繼續往高雄行駛，不料才前進了約2公里，身體就突然僵硬、抽筋，雙手無法控制方向盤，才會失控釀成意外。詳細情況國道警方正在釐清中。
